Vivasthu is a Sanskrit term. Vi means distinct. Vasthu means the site, building, ground, a home or dwelling.

Vivasthu endeavors to apply the science, technology, & design of Vaastu Shilpa Shastra in a contemporary setting, creating harmonious, sustainable spaces that balance energy & enhance the wellbeing of its inhabitants.

The word Vaastu stands for space, Shilpa is the form & Shastra is a compendium or a text. Broadly these texts are talking about space & form i.e. architecture & sculpture. Vaastu Shilpa Shastra is one of the oldest living design systems in the world. The great cities of Ayodhya, MohenjoDaro, & Lanka were designed on its principles.

Vaastu Shilpa Shastras are a compendium of architecture & sculpture that goes back to the Buddhist Era in written records, and pre-date this by hundreds of years in its understanding. The knowledge base is available in 64 texts. In addition to this, there are scores of texts in various languages of the Indian sub-continent. They speak of:
